Hezbollah Fires at IDF Forces in South Lebanon, Air Force Responds
Hezbollah fired several rockets, an anti-tank missile, and mortar shells at Israeli forces operating in southern Lebanon earlier Monday. The Air Force intercepted all of the rockets, and according to current policy no alerts were activated. There were no casualties.
In response, Israeli forces carried out a series of defensive strikes in southern Lebanon to remove an immediate threat to troops operating in the forward defense area. During the day, four separate incidents were also identified in which militants in vehicles approached the forces in a way the military described as an immediate danger.
Immediately after those threats were spotted, the Air Force, guided by troops on the ground, struck all of them in a targeted manner. The IDF said it would continue acting decisively to remove immediate threats and protect its forces in the southern Lebanon area.
The report also said that under new instructions for forces operating in Lebanon, following an agreement signed by the United States with Iran, troops are no longer allowed to open fire proactively. Fire is now permitted only when there is a clear and immediate danger to the forces, similar to the rules used inside Israel. Troops were also told to avoid long stays at fixed points and to move slowly between locations so they do not become stationary targets.
