Protesters Block Route 443 After Arrest of Haredi Man Suspected of Driving Stolen Car

Israeli Border Police and checkpoint officers arrested a young Haredi man suspected of driving a stolen vehicle near the Ofar checkpoint on Route 443, west of Jerusalem, on Friday. The driver, a man in his 20s from Ashdod, was stopped during a routine inspection, which revealed the car was stolen. Further checks showed he was also absent from military service. Border Police and Judea and Samaria District officers are currently working to restore order and reopen the road, but efforts to move the police vehicle with the detainee inside have so far failed.
