Construction Permits Issued for Major Haredi Housing Project in Kiryat Gat’s Ma’arava District

The local planning and building committee of Kiryat Gat has approved the first construction permits for three plots in the large-scale "Mishkanot Shir" housing project, located in the Ma’arava district. This milestone marks the transition from planning to execution for one of the significant residential developments aimed at the Haredi community. The project is a collaboration between the developers Reisdor and Shabiro, who plan to build approximately 2,500 housing units tailored to Haredi families.

Following the permit issuance, heavy machinery is expected to begin work on the approved plots imminently. Meanwhile, the developers continue to advance planning and licensing processes for additional plots to enable phased construction. Mishkanot Shir is part of the broader Ma’arava district development, which is designed to include around 7,500 housing units for the Haredi population as part of Kiryat Gat’s extensive urban expansion.

The Ma’arava district’s planning integrates comprehensive community infrastructure, including 80 synagogues, 10 mikvahs, numerous classrooms for various educational institutions, special education facilities, community centers, a swimming pool, health stations, commercial areas, parks, and public spaces. The district benefits from strategic transportation links near highways 6 and 35, a train station, and proximity to the city’s industrial and employment zones.

Reisdor brings extensive experience in Haredi housing projects, while Shabiro is a veteran construction company with a track record of large-scale developments. The issuance of the initial permits signals a significant step forward in realizing the ambitious plans for Mishkanot Shir and the Ma’arava district, moving from long-term planning to tangible construction activity.
