Boy, 8, Dies After Being Hit by Bus in Negev Hit-and-Run

The incident occurred between the Bedouin town of Hura and the Yatir Forest. Emergency services received a call at 1:23 PM after the child was brought to a local clinic in Hura with severe, multi-system injuries. Magen David Adom paramedics provided initial medical treatment and performed resuscitation efforts while transporting the boy in critical condition to Soroka Medical Center in Be'er Sheva, where he was later pronounced dead.

Following the collision, the bus driver reportedly fled the scene. Police officers from the Ayarat station and additional Southern District forces launched extensive searches and investigative actions. Within a short time, police located and arrested the suspect, a resident of Hura in his 50s, on suspicion of involvement in the accident and fleeing the scene. Traffic accident investigators from the Negev district are examining the scene, and the suspect was taken for interrogation ahead of a detention hearing at the Beersheba Magistrate's Court.
