Three Brothers Charged with Extorting Northern Israeli Farmer for 80,000 Shekels and 1.6 Tons of Cherries

Israeli police have charged three brothers from Lod with extorting a farmer from northern Israel. The suspects, who presented themselves as the Geroushi family, allegedly coerced the farmer into paying 80,000 shekels and handing over 1.6 tons of cherries without compensation. The farmer also faced ongoing threats demanding additional tens of thousands of shekels. The suspects sent intimidating messages warning the farmer to prepare the money immediately or face consequences at his home.

The three brothers were arrested earlier this month; two were detained while traveling in northern Israel, and the third in the central region. Following the investigation, the Northern District Prosecutor's Office filed an indictment against them for extortion by threats and aggravated fraud at the Nazareth District Court. Police stated they will continue efforts to enforce the law and maintain public order and security.

This case follows a similar incident earlier in the month in southern Israel, where four residents of Rahat were arrested for allegedly extorting a meat distribution operator in the Eshkol Regional Council area.
