Temporary traffic changes will affect the country's main interchange, known as the "Great Junction," over the coming nights due to upgrade works on the Peace Bridge. Starting tonight and continuing nightly until Thursday, the exit ramp to the northbound Ayalon Highway from the west will be closed between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. Additionally, this exit will be fully closed from midnight Thursday until 5 a.m. Sunday, August 30. While one westbound lane will be reduced and left turns onto the northbound Ayalon will be prohibited, the Ayalon Highway itself will remain open in both directions, and travel over the Peace Bridge will continue as usual.
The Israel Railways station at Tel Aviv HaShalom will also undergo upgrades, specifically the installation of new escalators replacing those in service since 1996. These works will take place from the evening of August 25 until August 29, during which passengers will not be able to access platform 1 for northbound trains from the station hall. This upgrade is part of preparations for an expected increase in passenger numbers to approximately 100 million annually by 2030, marking 30 years since the station's opening and its service to around 250 million passengers so far.
Authorities have advised drivers to follow traffic controllers' instructions and adapt to the temporary traffic arrangements. The upgrades aim to improve infrastructure and accommodate future traffic and passenger growth in the Tel Aviv metropolitan area.
