In response to the ongoing mental health crisis following the October 7 attacks and the continuing war, Ichilov Medical Center and the organization 'Lema'anchem' have signed a cooperation agreement to provide thousands of free psychiatric treatments to reservists, security personnel, and their families. Since the outbreak of the conflict, approximately 26,000 soldiers have been physically wounded, with about 65% suffering from psychological distress including PTSD, anxiety, depression, or adjustment difficulties.

The new initiative will expand Ichilov's existing 'Asif' trauma treatment center by establishing an Early Trauma Intervention Center. This center aims to deliver professional mental health care at no cost, focusing on early intervention to prevent chronic psychological conditions. Treatments will be provided by clinical psychologists and social workers, with a professional triage system ensuring rapid response from the moment of referral. Patients requiring more complex or prolonged care will be seamlessly referred to Ichilov for continued treatment.

Significantly, the program also addresses the needs of family members of reservists and security personnel, termed "invisible wounded" by Ichilov. These relatives often experience secondary trauma, including behavioral changes, anxiety, and difficulty returning to normal life. The initiative recognizes that trauma affects entire families and seeks to strengthen family units to support recovery.

The signing ceremony included key figures such as Ichilov CEO Prof. Eli Sprecher, 'Lema'anchem' founder Yossi Arbelich, IDF Mental Health Services commander Col. Dr. Yaakov Rothschild, Ichilov Psychiatry Division head Dr. Oren Tena, 'Lema'anchem' president Prof. Yosef Peres, and former Health Ministry CEO Prof. Hezi Levy. Sprecher emphasized the importance of community outreach and removing bureaucratic barriers to care, while Arbelich highlighted the critical window for early intervention to save lives and build resilience.

'Lema'anchem' provides free medical guidance and support to tens of thousands annually, assisting patients and families with complex medical cases. This new center responds to the long-term mental health challenges posed by the war, aiming to reach those at early stages of trauma to prevent lasting psychological harm.
