Israel Confirms Killing of Senior Hezbollah Commander Ali Musa Daqduq in Southern Lebanon

The IDF said on Sunday that it killed Ali Musa Daqduq, a senior Hezbollah commander, in a strike on Friday in the area south of the Litani River in Lebanon. Daqduq previously headed Hezbollah’s so-called Golan File, and the army described the operation as a “significant elimination” and an important “closing of a circle.”

According to the military, Daqduq was a major source of operational knowledge inside Hezbollah and held a series of sensitive posts over the years. He had commanded Hassan Nasrallah’s security team, led a unit in Hezbollah’s Radwan Force, overseen the organization’s infantry branch, and served in the operations department of the Nasr unit. The Golan File, which the IDF exposed in 2019, was responsible for Hezbollah’s entrenchment in Syria and for building military infrastructure near Israel’s border.

Daqduq also had a record of attacks on Western forces. In 2007, he was imprisoned by the United States after leading the kidnapping and execution of five American soldiers. The IDF said he had recently overseen most of the organization’s combat procedures and vowed to keep targeting Hezbollah commanders.

Separately, IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir told Northern Command brigade and division commanders that the army will continue operating in Lebanon to strengthen defenses for northern Israeli communities and deepen damage to Hezbollah through ground maneuvers and systematic fire. He said the Beaufort Ridge operation was operationally necessary and that Hezbollah had turned villages in southern Lebanon into a network of terror infrastructure.

Later on Sunday, the air force struck Hezbollah targets in Beirut’s Dahiya district in response to drone fire launched earlier from Lebanon toward the Western Galilee. Lebanese health officials said one person was killed and four were wounded. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz said Israel would not tolerate fire on its territory.
