IDF Confirms Killing of Senior Hezbollah Commander in Lebanon Strike

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed on Sunday that one of the militants killed in a recent strike in Kfar Deir al-Zahrani, Lebanon, was Abu Hassan Alaa, a senior commander in Hezbollah's 'Badr' unit. The attack came hours after a wave of extensive strikes in southern Lebanon following Hezbollah's violation of a ceasefire. Abu Hassan Alaa was involved in orchestrating multiple terrorist operations against IDF forces in the security zone, including launching explosive drones at Israeli troops in southern Lebanon. In recent years, he commanded several combat sectors targeting both IDF forces and Israeli civilians.

The IDF spokesperson stated that Alaa was targeted and eliminated in response to Hezbollah's actions against Israeli forces operating in the security zone. His death is considered a significant blow to the operational capabilities of his unit. This strike follows the earlier killing of Ali Samir Al-Hajj Hassan, a battalion commander in Hezbollah's 'Radwan Force,' who was killed at his base in Ansar. The IDF emphasized its commitment to preventing Hezbollah from harming Israeli civilians and soldiers and vowed to continue efforts to neutralize threats from the terrorist organization.
