Suspect Arrested After Stealing Wheels From Cars at Dead Sea Hotel Parking Lot

Police in the Arad station area have been investigating several recent cases of wheels being removed and stolen from vehicles parked at hotels in the Dead Sea region. During the probe, officers set up an ambush in a parking lot in the area and caught a suspect in the act.

According to police, the man arrived at the lot and removed four wheels from a Toyota. After loading the wheels into his own car, he was arrested on the spot. A search of his vehicle found the wheels, which investigators believe had been stolen only shortly beforehand.

The suspect, a man in his 20s from the Dimona area, was taken to the Arad police station for questioning. The seized items were held for further investigative steps. Police also said a criminal indictment was filed against a central Israel resident for breaking into a hotel room in the Dead Sea area and stealing credit cards.

Arad Station Commander Supt. Sahar Shaul said the operation was a “professional, focused and determined” effort that led to the suspect’s arrest during the offense. He added that property crimes harm public safety and quality of life, and that police will use all available means to find offenders, arrest them and bring them to trial.
