Police Nab Suspect in Deadly Hotel Lot Wheel-Theft Sting Near the Dead Sea
Police from the Arad station in the Rotem district have spent the past few months investigating a series of wheel removals and thefts from vehicles in hotel parking lots around the Dead Sea, according to Walla. As part of efforts to identify those responsible, officers set up a planned sting in one of the area parking lots.
During the operation, police saw a suspect arrive and approach a Toyota. In front of the officers, he began removing all four wheels from the vehicle. After he loaded the wheels into his own car, police arrested him on the spot.
The suspect, a man in his 20s from the Bedouin localities near Dimona, was taken to the Arad station for questioning. The wheels seized from him were transferred for further investigative processing.
Arad police chief Lt. Cmdr. Sahar Shaul said property crimes harm the public’s sense of security and quality of life, adding that police will use all available means to locate offenders, arrest them and bring them to justice.
