Oscar Gloukh has made a striking start to the 2026/2027 season with Ajax, scoring four goals across two matches against Vojvodina in the Conference League qualifiers, including a remarkable hat-trick in the second game. His performances have drawn significant acclaim in the Netherlands, with a local VI podcast calling him "probably the best player currently at Ajax." While last season he had yet to fully showcase his talent, Gloukh now demonstrates remarkable consistency and fits perfectly into Ajax's playing system.

The podcast highlighted that Gloukh's improvement stems from better stability, a defined role, and tactical adjustments, particularly regarding his timing and movement into the penalty area, which Ajax coaches emphasize during training. His physical condition has also improved, allowing him to conserve energy by reducing defensive duties and staying closer to the striker, unlike teammate Mika Hudjets, who plays deeper.

Analysts noted that Gloukh consciously takes more risks on the pitch, leveraging his strong shooting ability, which has paid off in recent matches. His recent goal-scoring spree is seen as a culmination of these factors, marking him as a key player for Ajax going forward.
