Israeli Restaurant Owner Arrested for Employing Seven Illegal Workers in Northern Village

Israeli authorities arrested a restaurant owner in the northern village of Manda on suspicion of employing and housing seven illegal residents from the West Bank. The seven individuals were found in a warehouse during an operation by the Border Police's "Erez" unit and the Northern District police. Investigations revealed that the illegal workers were employed at a large local restaurant owned by the suspect, who was detained on charges related to illegal employment and lodging.

The police operation targeted offenses involving employment, housing, and transportation of illegal residents. Evidence was strengthened by social media posts from the restaurant owner showing the illegal workers at the establishment. All seven workers were transferred to the Northern District's central unit for further questioning.

On July 30, indictments were filed against the restaurant owner and the seven illegal workers. The court extended their detention by five days pending further legal proceedings. Concurrently, Northern District Commander Commissioner Meir Eliyahu signed two administrative closure orders for 30 days: one for the restaurant and another for the building where the illegal workers were housed.

Police emphasized that Border Police and Northern District officers will continue to crack down on employers, landlords, and transporters of illegal residents to enforce immigration laws.
