Israeli Ambulance Driver Arrested for Spying for Iran, Including President Surveillance

The story · English

On June 29, 2026, Amir Hesham Muhammad Titi, a 34-year-old resident of Bana, was arrested by the tactical unit of the Israeli Border Police in a joint operation with the Shin Bet and the Northern District Police. Titi is suspected of conducting espionage activities on behalf of Iran. Working as an ambulance driver, he exploited his unrestricted access to hospitals across Israel to relay information and photos about hospital operations during both routine and emergency situations to his Iranian handlers.

During one hospital visit in northern Israel, Titi reportedly photographed the President of Israel for Iranian intelligence. Beyond his ambulance-related tasks, he was also assigned to document various locations, including the Hostages Square in Tel Aviv where he held a sign with hostage images, a protest in Haifa's Horev Center, and a settlement in the Sharon region housing a senior security official.

Titi received tens of thousands of shekels for his activities, paid through family members' bank accounts and digital wallets. Following his interrogation, an indictment was filed against him at the Haifa District Court by the Haifa District Prosecutor's Office, represented by attorney Yehuda Dayan. The police emphasized the severity of an Israeli citizen aiding an enemy during wartime and warned the public to remain vigilant against enemy attempts to recruit Israeli citizens for such missions.
