Israeli Ambulance Driver Indicted for Espionage on Behalf of Iran

An indictment was filed on July 30 against Hisham Muhammad Tayti, a 34-year-old resident of Baana in the Galilee, for conducting espionage activities for Iranian intelligence. Tayti, who worked as an ambulance driver, exploited his access to hospitals across Israel to gather and transmit sensitive information and images to his Iranian handlers. Among his documented activities was filming himself at Tel Aviv's Hostages Square holding a sign with images of hostages, as well as capturing footage at a protest in Haifa's Horev Center and near the residence of former Defense Minister Galant in the Sharon region. Notably, during one hospital visit in northern Israel, Tayti also recorded Israeli President Isaac Herzog.

Tayti received tens of thousands of shekels for his espionage work, with payments made through family members' bank accounts and digital wallets. Following his investigation, the indictment was submitted to the Haifa District Court by attorney Yehuda Dayan from the Haifa District Prosecutor's Office. The Shin Bet and police emphasized the seriousness of Israeli citizens' involvement in activities threatening national security and pledged to use all legal means to prosecute those involved.
