Israeli Ambulance Driver Indicted for Espionage on Behalf of Iran

תורגם ותומצת מתוך N12 על ידי baba
The story · English

An indictment was filed on July 30 against Hisham Muhammad Tayti, a 34-year-old resident of Baana in the Galilee, for conducting espionage activities for Iranian intelligence. Tayti, who worked as an ambulance driver, exploited his access to hospitals across Israel to gather and transmit sensitive information and images to his Iranian handlers. Among his documented activities, he filmed himself at Tel Aviv's Hostages Square holding a sign with hostage photos, recorded a protest in Haifa's Horev Center, and took footage near the residence of former Defense Minister Galant in the Sharon region. Additionally, during a hospital visit in northern Israel, he captured images of President Isaac Herzog.

Tayti received tens of thousands of shekels for his tasks, which were paid through family members' bank accounts and digital wallets. The indictment was submitted to the Haifa District Court by attorney Yehuda Dayan from the Haifa District Prosecutor's Office following the conclusion of the investigation. The Shin Bet and police emphasized their strict stance against any Israeli citizen's involvement in activities that threaten national security, affirming their commitment to using all legal means to prosecute those involved.
