Israeli Soldier Attacked and Stoned on Haifa Bus Over Uniform

An active-duty Israeli soldier was verbally abused and physically attacked while riding a bus to her base in Haifa last Wednesday around 12:50 PM. The incident occurred on Superbus line 55 near Paz Bridge, where a male passenger began cursing at her specifically because she was wearing military uniform. The soldier, seated behind the driver with only two other passengers on board, described the attacker shouting insults such as "f***ing soldier" and "sharmuta," and expressing hatred toward the state.

When the bus stopped, the man kicked the doors and continued yelling before exiting and throwing stones at the bus. One stone shattered the driver's window. The soldier immediately called the police while the attacker waited at traffic lights to continue throwing stones, targeting the area where she was seated. The assailant eventually fled by boarding another bus. The entire episode was captured on a vehicle camera and other recordings, which have been handed over to the police.

The soldier expressed feeling vulnerable despite wearing the uniform meant to symbolize strength and protection. She said, "Being in uniform does not make me strong; on the contrary, I was the most vulnerable." She hopes the suspect will be caught, emphasizing that he endangered everyone on the bus, not just her.

The Israeli police confirmed that following the complaint, an investigation was launched and a suspect has been arrested and questioned. They declined to provide further details due to the ongoing nature of the inquiry.
