Israeli Soldier Attacked and Targeted with Stones on Haifa Bus for Wearing Uniform

An Israeli female soldier was verbally abused and physically attacked while riding a bus in Haifa on July 24. The soldier, serving in active duty, was on Superbus line 55 near Paz Bridge around 12:50 PM when a male passenger began insulting her because of her military uniform. According to her account, the man shouted derogatory slurs and anti-state remarks directly at her, causing her significant distress.

When the bus stopped and the man exited, he aggressively kicked the bus doors and then started throwing stones at the vehicle, shattering the driver's window. The soldier immediately called the police during the attack. The assailant continued to throw stones at the bus at subsequent traffic lights, targeting the area where she was seated. After the incident, he fled by boarding another bus.

The soldier said she only realized she was the intended target after the event, as the man did not harass other passengers or the driver. She described feeling vulnerable despite wearing the uniform meant to symbolize strength and protection. "Being in uniform does not make me strong; it made me the most vulnerable," she said.

The attack was partially captured on a dashcam and other videos, which were handed over to the police. Israeli police confirmed that following the complaint, an investigation was launched and a suspect was arrested and questioned. Authorities are continuing efforts to fully investigate and prosecute the case.

The soldier expressed hope that the perpetrator will be caught, emphasizing the danger he posed not only to her but to all passengers on the bus.
