"It's time for lawmakers to amend the penal code so insulting an IDF soldier on duty receives the same protection as insulting a public servant," she said.

Malul attributed the woman's behavior to a broader societal disdain for the state and its defenders, contrasting it with pride shown by others, such as Argentine players displaying religious symbols during the World Cup final. The video of the incident received widespread support online, with commenters thanking the soldier and calling for stronger national loyalty. Malul emphasized that the issue extends beyond her daughter, highlighting the need to respect all IDF soldiers who serve by obligation and protect the public.
