Roi Kahlon’s Allies Accuse Attorney General of Undermining His Police Investigations Chief Bid

Roi Kahlon, a lawyer and candidate for the head of the Police Investigations Department (Mahash), is facing renewed disciplinary proceedings just weeks before the selection process closes. The investigation, which had been frozen for over a year and a half, was reopened by Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara.

Kahlon’s close associates told Channel 14 that this move is a deliberate attempt by the Attorney General’s office to sabotage his candidacy. They claim this is not coincidental, citing a previous effort to block his appointment as Civil Service Commissioner. A senior former prosecutor who worked with Kahlon expressed shock at the timing, calling it a personal vendetta and criticizing the justice system for what she described as "settling scores" and "personal destruction."

The controversy highlights tensions within Israel’s legal system as the Mahash leadership race approaches. It remains to be seen whether Baharav-Miara will continue to oppose Kahlon or allow him to compete without further interference.
