Jakko 7 Plug-In Hybrid Gains More Features at Same Price Amid Market Competition

Jakko 7 plug-in hybrid continues to perform strongly in Israel's automotive market, ranking third in sales for the first half of 2026 with 7,074 units sold, trailing only Jakko 5 and Hyundai Kona. Following a recent move by local importer Kamobile to upgrade the Hyundai Kona Hybrid with more features at unchanged prices, Kamobile has now applied a similar strategy to the Jakko 7 plug-in hybrid.

The Jakko 7 PHEV retains its existing powertrain, combining a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine (143 hp) with an electric motor (204 hp) for a total output of 342 hp. The vehicle accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.5 seconds and offers an electric-only range of 91 km thanks to its 18.3 kWh battery. Charging times include 3 hours for home charging and 20 minutes for fast charging from 30% to 80%. The model also features V2L technology with a 3.3 kW output.

The upgrades focus on trim levels rather than mechanical changes. The entry-level Elegance trim remains the baseline, while the mid-level Premium trim now includes ambient lighting, glove compartment lighting, a 12-volt socket in the trunk, driver seat and side mirror memory, lumbar support, easy entry system, ventilated front seats, wireless charging pad, electric trunk, and an 8-speaker Sony audio system. The Premium trim is priced at 190,000 shekels.

The top Luxury trim retains its existing features, including a 14.8-inch multimedia system and head-up display, priced at 203,000 shekels. The article raises the question of whether the enhanced features in the lower trims might lead to the discontinuation of the Luxury trim, or if it will also receive future upgrades.

This move by Kamobile reflects ongoing competition in the hybrid and plug-in hybrid segment, aiming to offer more value to consumers without increasing prices.
