IDF and Shin Bet Kill Hamas Commander Planning Immediate Attacks in Southern Gaza

In a joint operation by the Israel Defense Forces and the Shin Bet, a Hamas military commander was killed in southern Gaza on Tuesday night. Adel Jihad Muhammad Atfour, who led a unit in Hamas' military wing, was targeted in an aerial strike after actively promoting sniper attacks and planting explosives against Israeli forces operating in the Gaza Strip.

Atfour was also involved in efforts to restore Hamas' military capabilities in the southern Gaza region amid ongoing conflict. The Israeli military described him as an immediate and significant threat to their troops until his elimination in the precise strike.

The IDF's Southern Command forces remain deployed in the area under operational agreements and have pledged to continue acting decisively to neutralize any immediate threats to Israel's security. Both the IDF and Shin Bet emphasized that joint operations will persist as needed to thwart Hamas' attempts to rebuild its military strength and to prevent attacks against Israeli soldiers in Gaza.
