Paramedic Working Nearby Saves Man Who Collapsed on Jerusalem Street
A man in his 40s suffered cardiac arrest and collapsed on a Jerusalem street on Thursday. A nearby Magen David Adom paramedic, Chaim Rabinowitz, immediately began CPR. Additional MDA teams arrived and, after administering an electric shock, revived the man. He was transported to Hadassah Mount Scopus Medical Center in good condition.

A man in his 40s collapsed and lost consciousness on a street in Jerusalem on Thursday, suffering cardiac arrest. His life was saved by a Magen David Adom (MDA) paramedic who was working in a nearby store. The paramedic, Chaim Rabinowitz, saw people seeking help and rushed out to find the man unconscious, without a pulse or breathing. Rabinowitz immediately began basic CPR until additional MDA teams arrived.
Paramedic Naftali Chaim Sofer and medic Yaakov Grunwald from the MDA motorcycle unit quickly reached the scene. Together with Rabinowitz, they continued treatment, including chest compressions, rescue breaths, and defibrillator shocks. After the first electric shock, the man regained full consciousness.
He was subsequently transported by a mobile intensive care unit to Hadassah Mount Scopus Medical Center in good condition. "Continuing the medical treatment together, including compressions, breaths, and electric shocks, and after the first shock the patient regained full consciousness," said the paramedic. He added, "To be near such an event and realize within a few moments that you have saved a life and prevented a tragedy for an entire family is moving and is the reason we volunteer for MDA."
