A man in his 40s collapsed on a street in Jerusalem after suffering cardiac arrest. Magen David Adom (MDA) paramedics and EMTs were dispatched to the scene and immediately began advanced resuscitation efforts, including chest compressions, artificial respiration, and defibrillation. Chaim Rabinowitz, an MDA emergency medical technician working at a nearby business, noticed the commotion and rushed to assist. "I saw the man lying there, unconscious, without a pulse or breathing," Rabinowitz recounted. He contacted MDA's 101 emergency hotline and initiated basic life support until MDA paramedic Naftali Chaim Sofer and motorcycle unit medic Yaakov Grunwald arrived and joined the treatment.
Following an electric shock, the man's pulse returned, and he regained full consciousness. The MDA team transported him in a mobile intensive care unit to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital, where he is in good condition. "To be near such an event and realize within moments that you've saved a life and prevented a tragedy for an entire family, it's moving, and it's why we volunteer for MDA," Rabinowitz concluded.
