Paramedics from United Hatzalah successfully revived a 47-year-old Hasidic man who collapsed and lost consciousness while a passenger in a taxi on Kiryat Mada Street in Jerusalem on Monday. The medics performed advanced resuscitation, including administering an electric shock from a defibrillator, until his heart resumed beating. He was then transported to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in serious but stable condition.

"This was a passenger in a taxi who lost consciousness. We performed resuscitation on him, including administering an electric shock from a United Hatzalah defibrillator. After his heart resumed beating, he was evacuated to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in serious but stable condition. There is no doubt that thanks to the rapid response, his life was saved," said Avraham Ahrentroy, Chizki Cohen, and Gershon Ganor, the United Hatzalah medics who responded to the scene.

The incident involved a Hasidic man traveling as a passenger, not the taxi driver. This event follows a series of similar cases nationwide where swift emergency responses have saved lives. In recent weeks, a construction worker collapsed at a site in Bnei Brak and the father of a groom collapsed during his son's wedding in Modi'in Illit; in both instances, emergency teams managed to restore a pulse after advanced resuscitation efforts.

Emergency organizations emphasize that the availability of defibrillators in public places and extensive training for volunteer medics are crucial factors in saving lives during sudden cardiac arrest, stressing that every minute is vital in the critical initial hours.
