Israel Election Results: Final Tally Expected Next Week

The final results of Israel's general election are not expected to be officially published until next week, despite the completion of vote counting. While a near-final picture of seat distribution is anticipated by Thursday afternoon, the official announcement has a legal deadline of Wednesday, November 4th. This delay is attributed to the ongoing counting of "double envelopes", ballots cast by soldiers, police, hospital patients, and prisoners, which are counted separately and can alter the final seat allocation, especially for parties close to the electoral threshold.

The Central Elections Committee is also meticulously reviewing protocols from polling stations nationwide. Any discrepancies or inconsistencies trigger further checks and potentially a recount, a process expected to continue until Thursday evening to ensure accuracy. Once the official results are published, the focus will shift to the President's Residence for consultations with party representatives regarding the formation of the next government.

The 26th Knesset is scheduled to convene for the first time on Tuesday, November 10th. The political system has been engaged in intense updates and analysis since the polls closed, with the primary question being when a definitive understanding of the incoming Knesset's composition will emerge.
