Brooklyn Nets Assign Israeli Guard Ben Sharf to G League

The Brooklyn Nets announced Monday the transfer of Israeli guard Ben Sharf to their G League affiliate, the Long Island Nets. The 20-year-old guard, who was selected 26th overall in the 2025 NBA Draft, has seen limited playing time in his second NBA season and will now seek to gain experience and a more significant role in the G League. Drake Powell and Joshua Jefferson were also sent to the affiliate team.

The decision comes a day after Sharf made his first appearance of the season in the NBA, playing four minutes in the Nets' 136-109 home loss to the Indiana Pacers. He scored two points and grabbed one rebound in that game. Sharf did not play in the first two games of the season, and with the Nets now on a three-game losing streak, he will aim to find his place.

Sharf faces stiff competition for backcourt minutes, including from Igor Damin, Nolan Traore, and Michael Brown Jr. Despite showing flashes during preseason games, including an eight-point performance against Charlotte, Sharf has not yet secured a consistent role in coach Jordi Fernández's rotation.

This assignment to Long Island is not new for Sharf, who moved between the Nets and their G League team multiple times during his rookie season. In 15 G League games last year, he averaged 15.4 points, 4.6 assists, and 3.6 rebounds. He hopes to use this opportunity to earn significant minutes, continue his development, and convince the coaching staff of his readiness for the main roster.

The Nets themselves are experiencing a disappointing start to the season, remaining winless after three games. Following their recent heavy loss to Indiana, coach Fernández expressed disappointment with his players' performance as the team continues to evaluate its rotation and the integration of young players. The Nets' next game is against the Boston Celtics on Tuesday night.
