The Brooklyn Nets announced on Monday that player Ben Scherf has been assigned to their G-League affiliate, the Long Island Nets. This marks Scherf's return to the development league, a move he experienced multiple times last season. The decision follows a difficult start to the season for the Nets, who have lost their first three games. In the Nets' latest 136-109 loss to the Indiana Pacers, Scherf saw his first minutes of the season, playing four minutes, scoring two points, and grabbing one rebound.

Nets coach Jordi Fernández addressed Scherf's situation, stating, "This is the reality in the NBA, and sometimes it's tough. I love to encourage the players because they are here for a reason. We know how good they are and believe in them. Ultimately, I can't let everyone play, and my job is to decide who plays and who doesn't." He added that the team wants players to be ready for their opportunities, whether in games or practices, and that young players are handling the challenging routine well. Fernández expressed confidence that they will perform when called upon.

Scherf's mother shared a personal and emotional post on social media, revealing the difficulty of watching her son not receive playing time. "Today I'm going to watch a game, knowing my son isn't playing. What a strange situation, no excitement and my stomach isn't churning, only my heart, my heart is shrinking," she wrote. She described the parental struggle to protect their child, regardless of the level of play. While she chose not to attend the previous game, she decided to be present this time, emphasizing her commitment to grow and be the best support for her son, especially during difficult times.

Meanwhile, another Israeli player in the NBA, Dani Avdija, delivered a strong performance, leading the Portland Trail Blazers to a 128-120 comeback victory over the Sacramento Kings. Avdija finished the game with 26 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists, playing a key role in his team's momentum shift and eventual win.
