Israel's High Court of Justice has prohibited political parties from receiving real-time information on voter turnout at polling stations. The ruling, which aims to protect voter privacy, prevents parties from knowing who has voted and how many people have cast ballots as elections unfold.

The Privacy Protection Authority (PPA) will operate a dedicated hotline for election day reports concerning potential privacy violations. The PPA previously issued guidelines to all parties, mandating that they obtain explicit consent before collecting or using any voter data, particularly information derived from the voter registry or other sensitive databases.

This responsibility for safeguarding voter privacy extends to all involved parties, including representatives, app operators, suppliers, activists, and supporters. The PPA also reminded entities of their obligation to report any serious data security incidents affecting databases based on voter information or those classified as medium or high security.

On election day, the PPA will have representatives present at the election headquarters in the Knesset to address any emerging issues. The public is encouraged to report any suspected privacy infringements during the election process, such as receiving calls indicating a failure to vote, which could signify a breach of the High Court's decision.
