Maccabi Netanya Eyes Ukrainian Goalkeeper Alexander Kamkin Amid Squad Overhaul

Maccabi Netanya is actively working to strengthen its squad for the upcoming season, focusing particularly on the goalkeeper position. With the deal to sign Nadav Zamir stalling, the club is considering other candidates, including 24-year-old Ukrainian goalkeeper Alexander Kamkin. Kamkin, who stands 1.87 meters tall, played 26 matches last season for Krivbas in the Ukrainian league, a team coached by Patrick van Leeuwen and Uri David and featuring Israeli player Bar Lin. He developed at Shakhtar Donetsk and was loaned to Krivbas from Karpaty Lviv, the same club that produced Bruninho, now at Maccabi Haifa. Due to Krivbas's financial difficulties, they are looking to sell Kamkin, whom they acquired for just 150,000 euros. Maccabi Netanya has shown interest, with goalkeeper coach Ran Kadush already making contact.

In addition to Kamkin, midfielder Niv Antman, who agreed to extend his contract for another season, is expected to sign officially and join training soon. Meanwhile, the club is set to receive a significant financial boost from the transfer of Roberto Tavarez, who refused to stay in Israel and signed with Universitatea Craiova. This deal will bring Netanya around half a million euros, with potential increases if the Romanian club wins the league again or qualifies for European competition group stages.

Netanya is also awaiting midfielder Dan Glazer's decision on a three-year contract offer that includes no early exit clause, promising long-term professional and financial stability. The club aims to build a more competitive team to return to the upper playoff bracket after a disappointing previous season. The ongoing recruitment and financial maneuvers reflect Netanya's clear objective to improve its standing in the Israeli Premier League.
