Maccabi Haifa Advances Talks for Goalkeeper Amid Injury to Omri Glazer

Maccabi Haifa is actively negotiating to strengthen its goalkeeper position following Omri Glazer's injury during a 3-0 loss to Hapoel Kiryat Shmona. Glazer underwent an MRI on Wednesday evening, which revealed a knee ligament strain with an expected recovery time of up to three weeks. In response, Haifa accelerated discussions with Hapoel Petah Tikva regarding goalkeeper Omer Katz, who has expressed a desire to transfer and has tentatively agreed to terms with Haifa. The club aims to finalize an agreement, potentially involving young midfielder Itay Ehud moving in the opposite direction to Petah Tikva.

Meanwhile, the prospect of signing Omer Nir'on, initially the leading candidate for the backup goalkeeper role, is becoming less likely. Maccabi Haifa has learned that Maccabi Netanya is reluctant to release Nir'on, preferring he transfer to Hapoel Ramat Gan instead. Despite this, Haifa has not abandoned hopes of acquiring Nir'on, who is reportedly willing to join as a second-choice goalkeeper. The club may pursue further negotiations to secure his transfer.
