Maccabi Haifa Seeks to Sign Goalkeeper Omer Katz from Hapoel Petah Tikva

Maccabi Haifa has officially approached Hapoel Petah Tikva to acquire goalkeeper Omer Katz, but significant gaps remain between the clubs. Haifa's initial offer includes 500,000 shekels plus the loan of goalkeeper Itay Ehud, which Petah Tikva has currently rejected. Hapoel Petah Tikva is reluctant to accept the deal as they lack a replacement goalkeeper, while Maccabi Haifa plans to use Katz as a backup goalkeeper. Recently, Maccabi Haifa parted ways with Georgi Yarmakov, who was sold to Metalist Kharkiv, with Omri Glazer returning as the main goalkeeper. Additionally, Sheriff Kiyof, who was expected to be loaned to Hapoel Ramat Gan, got injured, increasing Haifa's need for a backup goalkeeper.

Meanwhile, Maccabi Haifa aims to compensate for their poor performance in the first two Toto Cup matches, where they lost to Hapoel Haifa and Ironi Kiryat Shmona, conceding three goals in each game. Ahead of their upcoming match against Ironi Tiberias on Tuesday, the club announced that fans who attended the two losses will receive free tickets as a gesture of appreciation for their support.
