The demand for housing in the Gaza Envelope region, including kibbutzim and nearby settlements, has surged by over 350% in the past three years, significantly exceeding pre-war levels. This dramatic increase follows an almost complete drop in demand immediately after the war began.

In Sderot, a rental and sales center reported approximately 100 people on a waiting list for apartments, with new buildings fully occupied. This surge in demand has also led to price increases for second-hand apartments in the region, with prices in Netivot rising by 16% and in Ofakim by 11% over the last three years.

Families are actively choosing to relocate to the area. Gal and Dor, who moved from the Jerusalem area to Kibbutz Sufa, stated, "We are Zionists, it's time to move." They noted that other families are also making the move, seeking to integrate into the community.

Kibbutz Nir Oz is also experiencing a similar trend. Nadav Peretz, the Director of Demographic Growth at the kibbutz, confirmed that they receive inquiries weekly from dozens of individuals, including current residents and young families, interested in joining the kibbutz.

While the full rehabilitation of the Gaza Envelope is a long process, there are clear signs of renewed life and growth in the area, with both returning residents and new families choosing to settle there.
