Former Beitar Jerusalem coach Barak Itzhaki has officially returned to Anorthosis, this time as the team's new manager. Itzhaki, who previously played for the Cypriot club over a decade ago, is reportedly close to finalizing his deal.

Anorthosis is currently facing significant challenges, including a FIFA-imposed transfer ban that will prevent the club from signing new players for two more transfer windows. This penalty stems from previous fair play violations, meaning Itzhaki will be unable to bring in reinforcements until at least the January 2028 window, unless the club resolves its outstanding debts.

Despite these restrictions, Anorthosis club officials are reportedly optimistic about Itzhaki's appointment. They were impressed by his work with Beitar Jerusalem and believe he can improve the team's competitiveness.

The team's current league standing is dire. After six matches in the Cypriot league, Anorthosis sits second to last, with only one win and five losses, including three consecutive defeats. They have conceded 13 goals while scoring just four, matching the lowest tally in the league alongside bottom-placed Karmiotissa.
