שוטרי משטרת ירושלים עצרו נהג בכניסה למעבר עופר לאחר שעורר את חשדם. בחיפוש יסודי ברכב, התגלו בתא המטען שבעה פלסטינים ששהו בישראל באופן בלתי חוקי.

על פי החקירה הראשונית, הנהג אסף את הפלסטינים באזור כביש 433, וקיבל מכל אחד מהם 700 שקלים עבור הברחתם לישראל. הנהג והפלסטינים הועברו לחקירה במשטרה. הרכב, על פי החשד, יוחרם.
