Border Police Arrest Driver Smuggling Seven Illegal Immigrants in Car Trunk

Border Police officers at the Ofrat crossing near Jerusalem apprehended a driver attempting to smuggle seven undocumented individuals crammed into his car's trunk. The incident occurred on Monday when a vigilant commander at the crossing became suspicious of a private vehicle at the checkpoint. A thorough inspection revealed the seven individuals hidden in the trunk, packed tightly together.

Initial investigations suggest the driver collected the individuals from Route 443 shortly before reaching the crossing. He allegedly charged each person approximately 700 shekels for the illicit transport, aiming for a quick profit at the expense of public safety and in clear violation of the law.

The driver and the seven undocumented individuals were arrested on the spot and taken for further police investigation. Authorities are also looking into potential accomplices who may have assisted in the smuggling operation.

Dramatic video footage released by the police shows the moment the trunk was opened, revealing the cramped and dangerous conditions the individuals were subjected to. The footage also shows the suspects being ordered out of the trunk and subsequently kneeling on the ground with their hands on their heads, under heavy guard.
