Border Police Find 18 Illegal Immigrants Hidden in Truck's Double Bottom

Border Police officers in Jerusalem and the surrounding area discovered 18 illegal immigrants concealed within a double bottom compartment in the undercarriage of a truck on Sunday. The discovery followed a pursuit that began when the truck's driver fled a routine inspection at the Mezmoriyah crossing. According to police, the truck stopped for inspection during a Border Police operation, but the driver sped away shortly after. During his escape, the driver allegedly operated the vehicle dangerously, damaging crossing infrastructure and hitting two civilian vehicles.

Border Police forces initiated a chase, and the truck was located in the village of Al-Muntar. The driver had already fled the scene and was being sought by authorities. A search of the truck revealed a hidden double bottom in its undercarriage, where the 18 individuals were found concealed. All 18 were apprehended and taken for further investigation.

The Border Police stated that its forces will continue operations to thwart attempts by illegal immigrants to enter and be transported, and to maintain public safety.
