Gemini Comes to Chrome in Israel

Google is expanding its integration of Gemini into the Chrome browser, and the service is now available to users in Israel as part of a broader rollout outside the United States. The new feature, based on the Gemini 3.1 model, embeds the smart assistant directly into the browsing experience, allowing users to carry out various actions without switching between websites, windows or apps.

Gemini in Chrome is available on Mac and Windows computers, as well as in the iOS version of the browser. On desktop, it can be activated through a dedicated browser icon, a keyboard shortcut or the context menu. The assistant opens in a side panel or floating window and can be used while browsing. One of its main capabilities is understanding the content in the open tab. Users can ask Gemini to summarize articles, explain complex content, generate study questions or adapt content such as recipes. In addition, Gemini can work across multiple tabs at once, gather information from different sources and present a consolidated summary or comparison.

Google is also expanding its connection to its services, including Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Maps, YouTube and others. This makes it possible to carry out actions such as scheduling meetings, checking information about locations, asking questions about YouTube videos and drafting email messages from within the Gemini window. Google is also integrating Personal Intelligence into Chrome, allowing Gemini to use context from previous conversations and information from various company services to provide more tailored answers to the user.

Another feature is Nano Banana 2, Google’s image editing engine, which allows users to edit images from the web using direct text instructions from the Gemini panel, without downloading the file or opening an external service. Google emphasizes that Gemini in Chrome includes security mechanisms, and that sensitive actions such as sending an email or creating a calendar event will require explicit user approval.
