Google Enhances Gemini App with Advanced Notification Controls and Interface Updates

Google has begun rolling out significant updates to its Gemini app, starting with Android users. The new features include a notification control screen that allows users to manage four distinct types of alerts: a personalized daily brief, updates on scheduled tasks, notifications when a complex response is ready, and messages about new features and usage tips. This granular control is especially useful for users relying on Gemini for lengthy or repetitive tasks, enabling them to customize notifications without fully blocking them via Android settings.

Additionally, Google has simplified the model's thinking level options by removing the separate Standard choice, leaving only the Extended thinking mode for deeper processing of complex queries. These changes are being widely deployed on both Android and the web version of Gemini.

The Gemini Spark interface has also been revamped, organizing tasks into tabs such as scheduled, awaiting information, in progress, and completed. A dedicated search function within the task list has been added to improve usability. Users who do not immediately see the new notification settings are advised to update Gemini through Google Play and wait for the server-side activation, as reinstalling the app is unnecessary.
