Israeli and Greek Navies Conduct Joint Mediterranean Exercise
The Israeli and Greek navies recently completed a joint exercise in the Mediterranean Sea aimed at bolstering their operational cooperation. The drills involved two Israeli missile ships and two Greek frigates, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). The exercise focused on enhancing the ability of both naval forces to operate together in various scenarios, including emergency situations and identifying and responding to maritime threats. Personnel exchanges between the Israeli and Greek vessels allowed military members to share knowledge and experience, thereby strengthening their operational capabilities.
"Deepening cooperation with partner navies enhances operational capabilities and international relations, while contributing to regional stability," stated the commander of the Israeli Navy's 3rd Flotilla. He added that such cooperation improves forces' readiness for diverse scenarios and bolsters the protection of Israel's maritime borders, emphasizing the strategic role of the Israeli Navy in national security.
This exercise is part of ongoing cooperation between the two navies, which seek to improve their interoperability and joint response capabilities to threats in the Mediterranean.
