Israeli Navy Conducts Large-Scale Drill to Defend Gas Platforms and Coastal Assets

The Israeli Navy held a major joint exercise this week in the Mediterranean Sea and Red Sea, involving hundreds of soldiers and multiple naval units including the missile boat flotilla, submarine flotilla, and security squadrons 914 and 916. The drill was led by the missile boat flotilla in coordination with the submarine flotilla, operational headquarters, and other units. It focused on scenarios such as maritime infiltrations, multi-theater combat, aerial threats, live-fire operations, and protection of strategic assets like gas platforms, Israeli ports, and national infrastructure.

The exercise also included simulation scenarios in the Red Sea to enhance command, coordination, and cooperation among the naval units. According to the Israel Defense Forces, the drill was part of a process to learn lessons from the past three years of combat experience. The Navy emphasized the strategic importance of the maritime domain and its ongoing efforts to adapt capabilities to evolving threats, safeguard Israel’s security, economic, and energy assets, and detect and neutralize threats in real time.
