Israel and Greece Conduct Joint Naval Drills in Mediterranean

Israel and Greece recently concluded joint naval exercises in the Mediterranean Sea, involving missile boats from both nations' navies. The drills, which took place approximately two weeks ago, aimed to enhance cooperation and boost joint readiness between the two militaries.

These exercises follow a significant security agreement signed last month, under which Israel will export defense equipment to Greece valued at over 10 billion shekels. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu highlighted this deal as a major expansion of a decade-old Eastern Mediterranean alliance involving Greece and Cyprus, emphasizing the strength of Israel's defense industry and its growing regional partnerships. He alluded to Turkey, with whom relations have recently been strained, suggesting the agreement demonstrated Israel's influence and confidence in its defense exports.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz echoed these sentiments, stating that Israel and Greece share strategic interests and face common regional challenges. He asserted that both nations would deepen their security and strategic cooperation to counter actors seeking regional dominance and instability, thereby safeguarding their shared security and interests.
