Israel and Greece Sign Major Defense Export Deal Worth Over $2.7 Billion

Israel and Greece have finalized a significant defense export agreement valued at approximately 3 billion euros (over 10 billion shekels). The deal, signed in Tel Aviv on Monday by Israeli Ministry of Defense Director-General Major General (Res.) Amir Yaron and Greek Procurement Director General Yannis Bouras, will see Israel establish a multi-layered air defense system for Greece. This system will be based on Israeli-developed architecture and technologies, designed to counter both ballistic missiles and drones.

Key components of the agreement include the David's Sling interceptor system, the Barak MX system, the SPYDER air defense system, MMR multi-mission radars, and a new command and control system currently under development. This advanced system is intended to consolidate all air defense capabilities.

A supplementary deal, worth 26 million euros (approximately 92 million shekels), was also signed for the sale of DRONE DOME systems, specifically designed for protection against drones and unmanned aerial vehicles.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant stated that Israel and Greece share common interests and face similar regional challenges. He emphasized that even as some actors seek to expand their influence and destabilize the region, Israel and Greece will continue to deepen their strategic and defense cooperation.

The Ministry of Defense highlighted that this agreement aligns with a strategy to expand defense exports as a primary means of strengthening the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), influencing foreign policy, and bolstering both the defense industry and the national economy.
