Feuding Hasidic Rebbes Reunite After Years of Estrangement

Two Hasidic leaders from the Nadvorna dynasty are set to meet Thursday evening after years of a public rift. The meeting, described as a "spiritual elevation," will take place at the home of their mother, the Nadvorna Rebetzin, widow of the late Rabbi Yaakov of Nadvorna. The reunion follows the recent inauguration of a new Nadvorna synagogue in Jerusalem by one of the rebbes, completing the Hasidic group's expansion, with the other rebbe having previously opened a synagogue in Bnei Brak.

The years of separation reportedly stemmed from disputes over real estate matters. Despite the disagreements, members of the Hasidic community expressed satisfaction that the conflict never devolved into violence, slander, or public denouncements, maintaining mutual respect and adherence to religious decorum. They emphasized that the disputes were handled with restraint and reverence for heaven.

Following the resolution of internal conflicts and property issues, the Hasidim are approaching this reconciliation with deep gratitude. There is a strong hope within the Nadvorna communities that this meeting will fully honor the dying wish of their father, Rabbi Yaakov of Nadvorna, who repeatedly urged his sons to live together in love, brotherhood, peace, and friendship.
