יושב ראש הרשות הפלסטינית, מחמוד אבו מאזן, לא יורשה להיכנס לארצות הברית ולהשתתף בכינוס העצרת הכללית של האו"ם בשבוע הבא, לאחר שארה"ב סירבה להעניק לו אשרת כניסה. כך אישר מקור המעורה בפרטים לסוכנות הידיעות AFP, בהמשך לדיווח קודם בנושא. מחלקת המדינה האמריקנית הודיעה רשמית על הארכת סנקציות הוויזה נגד בכירי הרשות הפלסטינית ואש"ף, בטענה שהם אינם עומדים בהתחייבויותיהם כלפי וושינגטון. שמו של אבו מאזן לא נכלל בהודעה הרשמית, אך המקור אישר כי הוא נכלל בסנקציות.
