Israel's Ministerial Committee for Shin Bet Affairs has authorized the Shin Bet security agency to independently determine the necessary security arrangements for party leaders who are currently unprotected and hold civilian status. This decision includes figures such as former IDF Chief of Staff and Knesset Member Gadi Eisenkot.
The committee's resolution was made during a meeting that did not include the Prime Minister and will remain in effect until the 26th Knesset is sworn in. This move follows a prior discussion regarding the provision of state security for Eisenkot, prompted by an elevated threat assessment against him, rated at level 4 out of 6.
The decision empowers the Shin Bet to assess and implement security measures based on its evaluation of the threat level, ensuring a tailored approach to protecting individuals deemed at risk.
