הממשל האמריקני אישר מכירה של פצצות במשקל כ-900 קילוגרמים לישראל, בעסקה המוערכת ב-2.8 מיליארד דולר. זוהי מכירת החימוש הגדולה ביותר מסוג זה בשנים האחרונות.

הפצצות, המכונות גם "חודרי ביצורים", עמדו בעבר במרכז מחלוקת בין המדינות. בשנת 2024, ממשל ביידן עצר משלוח של פצצות אלו לישראל, מתוך חשש לשימוש בהן באזורים מאוכלסים בצפיפות ברצועת עזה.

העסקה החדשה כוללת גם פצצות חודרות ביצורים, והיא מהווה אישור מחודש של יכולתה של ישראל להשתמש בחימוש כבד, תוך התמודדות עם ביקורת בינלאומית אפשרית.
