Border Guard Officer Killed in Netanya Shooting Incident

A Border Guard (Magav) officer was killed in a shooting incident in the Kiryat Hasharon neighborhood of Netanya on Tuesday. The suspect, who fired at police forces, was identified as a security forces member who served in the Border Guard. Police officers and forces on the scene responded quickly and neutralized the suspect. Initial investigations suggest the officer may have been suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

The chairman of the Organization of Disabled IDF Veterans, Idan Kliman, responded to the incident, calling for a full and in-depth investigation. He emphasized that the event serves as another wake-up call for Israel to support its thousands of veterans dealing with ongoing battles after leaving the battlefield. Kliman urged National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir to immediately order a joint investigation by the IDF and the Ministry of Defense to examine the circumstances and support provided, and to learn lessons to prevent future occurrences.

Kliman stated that the country is on the verge of an abyss and has a basic duty to immediately support those who defended it, providing them with the necessary care and support. The circumstances of the incident are still under investigation.
