Security measures surrounding Noam Sohlberg, an Israeli Supreme Court justice and chairman of the Central Elections Committee, have been significantly enhanced in recent days. The decision, made by the Israeli Police over the past two weeks, follows a specific security assessment and intelligence received by authorities. The increased protection has been actively implemented. The Central Elections Committee confirmed the measure, stating that Justice Sohlberg receives protection according to security needs and police directives, without elaborating on the intelligence that prompted the decision.

This heightened security comes amid broader security preparations for the 2026 legislative elections. The protection status of several political figures is also under review. Notably, Gadi Eisenkot, leader of the Yashar! party, was recommended for protection throughout the election period. However, a similar recommendation was not made for Yair Golan, leader of the Democratic Party, despite a request from Sohlberg himself.
