Comedian Assi Israelof Takes Over Hosting Israeli Trivia Show 'Cash Cab' on Reshet 13
Comedian, actor, and musician Assi Israelof, known from the trio Mah Kashur, will become the new host of the Israeli trivia game show "Cash Cab" following its move from Keshet 12 to Reshet 13, according to journalist Eran Swissa. Israelof replaces Ido Rosenblum, who hosted the show since its debut. The Israeli version of the British show "Cash Cab" first aired on Keshet in May 2007 and won the Israeli Television Academy Award for Best Entertainment-Documentary Program in 2010.
An attempted spin-off called "Moneh HaKetz" focused on music trivia and was hosted by Ilana Berkovich on Channel 24 but did not achieve success. About two months ago, Keshet decided not to renew the show's production contract after nearly 19 years, prompting the move to Reshet 13. It remains to be seen whether the show will maintain its popularity with the new network and host.
Former Walla! TV critic Nadav Menuchin praised Rosenblum's hosting in 2019, stating that his presence was the main factor in the show's success, more than the format or questions. Menuchin suggested that including a more diverse range of contestants beyond young Tel Aviv residents could add value to the program. The transition marks a significant change for the long-running Israeli adaptation of "Cash Cab."
